Join a community of passionate learners at the University of Denver
At the University of Denver, we believe in admission standards, not requirements. Why? Because every student’s journey to DU is unique, and we’re more interested in the opportunities you’ve pursued and the success you’ve achieved along the way.
Although we don’t have specific high school subject requirements, we recommend the following academic preparation:
- 4 years of English
- 3-4 years of mathematics (Calculus recommended for Engineering, Computer Science, or Business majors)
- 3-4 years of science, with at least 2 years in a lab setting
- 3-4 years of social studies
- 3-4 years of foreign language
While we take a holistic approach to admission, academic performance is the most important factor in our admission process, which includes your grades, the rigor of your classes, and your test scores (if you’d like to submit them). For 2024, the average weighted GPA middle 50% range was 3.73 – 4.0. While we’re a test-optional university, students who choose to submit their SAT or ACT scores can superscore all of their tests to reflect their highest performance.
But we’re looking for more than grades and scores. We want to know who you are outside the classroom. Whether you’re a leader in student government, a community service advocate, an athlete, or a performer, we value how you’ve made an impact in your school and community. Essays, recommendation letters, and extracurricular activities all help paint the full picture of who you are and how you’ll contribute to the DU community.
As part of our holistic approach to admission, we consider not just your academic record, but also your demonstrated interest in DU. Visiting campus, attending a college fair, or connecting with us virtually shows us your excitement about joining the DU community.
At DU, we’re not just shaping a class; we’re building a community of passionate learners ready to make a difference. Are you ready to join us? Apply here!
